Top 5 Most Read Blog Articles 2022

The information and stories people look for tell a lot about a certain period. In 2022, the most read articles on this blog show a growing interest in solar energy and efficient solutions to monitor plant performance. Moreover, we are happy more and more listeners are discovering OTT CAST, our podcast on environmental monitoring. Episode 15 made it onto this list, as did the introduction of the new OTT PLS 500 pressure level sensor.

1. Building an Effective Meteorological Station for Solar PV

Weather conditions have a huge influence on photovoltaic output. Even intermittent cloud cover can have a dramatic effect on incident solar energy, while other factors like air temperature, wind direction and speed, precipitation, humidity and air pressure can all influence the efficiency of solar cells. Monitoring weather conditions accurately is crucial in order to understand variations in PV plant performance.

2. Soiling Sensor DustIQ: Firmware Update Improves Response and Handling

Soiling is a hot topic in the solar energy industry. In 2022, the pioneering soiling monitoring system Kipp & Zonen DustIQ has received a new firmware that simplifies both handling and calibration. Active users can update to the new firmware, too. Read this article to learn how.

3. Albedo Measurement for Bifacial PV Modules

Among the most read articles of the past year, this one from 2018 made it into the top 5. more than four years later, the interest in bifacial PV modules and technical solutions for performance monitoring is unabated. This article talks about the basics of albedo and ways to monitor it.

4. Podcast: A Trip to the Scottish Islands – On-Site Checks & Calibration

Do you know OTT CAST already? That is our podcast on environmental monitoring. Episode 15 dates back to July and caught enough interest to secure its space in this list. In this episode, Robin Guy tells about his life as a service engineer and how his team contributes to safe ferry traffic in Scotland and a longer life span of the used technology even in the harshest conditions.

5. Introducing the New OTT PLS 500

The youngest article in this list introduces a new sensor within OTT HydroMet’s broad portfolio. Building on decades of experience, the redesigned pressure level sensor OTT PLS 500 retains key elements of the trusted, robust, and reliable OTT PLS, while enhancing the sensor to be more intuitive and user-friendly.
