Trends in Nutrient Monitoring

The nitrogen and phosphorus pollution of water has the potential to become a significant environmental problem. Our recent whitepaper deals with this topic and discusses possible solutions.

As essential components of living organisms, nitrogen and phosphorus are of fundamental importance. Phosphates and nitrates are naturally occurring nutrients that promote the growth of aquatic organisms. Permanently high nutrient inputs from point sources and diffuse inputs, however, lead to extreme nutrient loads in water bodies – a growing environmental problem that also involves health risks.

Continuous monitoring of nutrients is required in order to detect any changes in water quality at an early stage and to develop targeted remediation and avoidance strategies.

Our white paper on current and future trends in nutrient monitoring show how nitrate and phosphorus levels in water are influenced, what consequences too high nutrient levels can have, and how they can be prevented.

In addition, there is a useful overview of the different measurement methods including their pros and cons.
