Part of a good wine
LUFFT is located in Fellbach, but not everyone knows that Fellbach is located in the Remstal (Valley of the river Rems) one of the best and most beautiful wine regions of Germany. Whether Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, or the typical Trollinger, but also new varieties such as Cabernet Mitos or Acolon are grown between Fellbach and Schwäbisch Gmünd. No wonder that many have gained an international reputation. One finds wines from wineries such as Aldinger or Ellwanger in Gault Millau and Mundus Vini, and for years, it hails international awards for Remstaler wines.
LUFFT actively helps in the vineyard
Nowadays it appears nearly as ironic that in the 19th century wine-growing nearly came to a standstill in the Remstal. The immigrant phylloxera from the United States destroyed vineyards not only in Spain and France but also most of the vines in the Remstal. Today such a large-scale destruction is part of the past. For agricultural applications, it is critical to recognize treatment times exactly (which depends on the respective microclimate in the vineyard) and to select the treatments so that fungus diseases such as real and false mildew cannot build up resistance.

Protective or Reactive
Sometimes treatment must be preventive, sometimes reactive. When precipitation is expected in combination with high temperatures, winegrowers can apply a protective coating to the leaves in advance (prevention). In reactive applications, winegrowers have the option to effectively applying a fungicide up to three days after an infection. If they wait longer then it is no longer effective since the fungus has then penetrated the lower layers of the leaves. The weather stations of LUFFT help the farmer to make these decisions by providing him with important information on the microclimate of the vineyard at any time. So the right time for pest control or the time to harvest can be determined.
The All-in-one sensor (WS600-UMB) is used in the Hungarian Capital of Culture Pécs. This measures the vineyard meteorological data directly. The compact weather station calculates, among other things, the air temperature, relative humidity, precipitation intensity and rainfall. The amount of precipitation is determined by means of a 24 GHz Doppler radar. What is measured is the droplet velocity of each droplet. Based on the correlation of droplet size and velocity the rainfall quantity and intensity are determined. Through the precise measurement, the watering of plants, especially in spring and summer can be optimally controlled.
