2022 has kicked off with a bang. As one of the first major events in the industry, Intersolar North America and Energy Storage North America have been face-to-face during the Covid-19 pandemic, as a combined event for the first time.<\/p>

Despite some deserted areas within the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, CA, the event exceeded the expectations of many attendees. In this article we share impressions and learnings from our team that represented OTT HydroMet in Long Beach.<\/p>

A focus on long-term thinking is emerging: Make sure you get the most out of your PV plant<\/h3>

\u201cA lot of people within the solar industry work on smart ways to increase the efficiency of a PV plant. Soiling is getting more attention as it can affect a plant\u2019s Performance Ratio significantly. Manufacturers are developing cleaning robots in all sizes, from small devices to tractor brushes. Optimizing cleaning schedules is of prime importance. Our soiling monitoring system DustIQ can be a key element in that process, that helps operators to monitor the performance loss of their plant.\u201d<\/p>

The Kipp & Zonen SMP12 with its integrated heating aroused many visitors\u2019 curiosity<\/h4>

\u201cAcross the Long Beach Convention Center, there was a spirit of excitement to meet again and return to a sort of normal life. To me, one of the highlights of the event was the positive feedback on the compact all-in-one weather sensors we exhibited at our booth. People were impressed by the number of atmospheric parameters the Lufft WS600 and WS500 can measure within one compact housing. But the star at our booth was probably the new Kipp & Zonen SMP12, our new Spectrally Flat Class A pyranometer that comes with integrated heating. People were very interested in its solid-state technology. The SMP12 has an integrated heating function that works without moving parts, which is perfect to prevent the formation of dew and frost on the glass dome while minimizing maintenance.\u201d<\/p>

As a combined event during the pandemic, Intersolar 2022 exceeded expectations<\/h4>

\u201cTo be honest, we had real concerns about the event in the beginning. Our initial thought was that the majority of companies would pull out due to the pandemic. Although there were some empty spaces, Intersolar turned out great. There was a steady stream of people coming to our booth, keeping us busy and happy. In general, I\u2019m seeing a growing interest in bifacials everywhere. People are trying to figure out what\u2019s the best way to install panels and to monitor irradiance on the rear side properly. As a leading manufacturer of sensors and systems for solar radiation monitoring, we are happy to share the knowledge from our researchers and engineers.\u201d<\/p>
