It is therefore particularly suitable for the use on bridges where the installation of embedded ground probes entails structural risks. As bridges are usually exposed to stronger winds and the cooling and evaporation of the underlying water it makes sense to monitor them thoroughly.<\/p><p>The NIRS31 was also the base for the development of the mobile sensor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lufft.com\/products\/road-runway-sensors-292\/marwis-umb-mobile-advanced-road-weather-information-sensor-2308\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MARWIS<\/a> and the latest stationary sensor with a lower installation height <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lufft.com\/products\/road-runway-sensors-292\/starwis-umb-stationary-road-weather-information-sensor-2317\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">StaRWIS<\/a>. Reason enough to dedicate this contribution to this sensor &#8211; with the best references!<\/p><h3 class=\"entry-title\">Highway of Quer\u00e9taro, Mexico<\/h3><p>The Mexican Ministry of Communications and Transport has recently commissioned our Mexican partner Ingenier\u00eda Geof\u00edsica y Sistema S.A. de C.V. (IGS) to modernize and install new intelligent transport systems (ITS) along the federal bridges and motorways in Quer\u00e9taro, Mexico. These include eight automatic road weather information systems (RWIS). The station consists of the non-contact <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lufft.com\/products\/road-runway-sensors-292\/non-invasive-road-sensor-nirs31-umb-2307\/\">NIRS31 road weather sensor<\/a>, a compact <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lufft.com\/products\/compact-weather-sensors-293\/ws400-umb-smart-weather-sensor-1843\/\">WS400 All-in-One weather sensor<\/a> and a camera. In addition, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lufft.com\/products\/road-runway-sensors-292\/marwis-umb-mobile-advanced-road-weather-information-sensor-2308\/\">MARWIS mobile road weather sensor<\/a> provides additional information directly from a patrol vehicle on the road. The measured values are evaluated and visualized using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lufft.com\/products\/accessories-310\/viewmondo-road-runway-management-software-2321\/\">ViewMondo monitoring software<\/a> from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.informatik-werkstatt.de\/index.html\">Informatik Werkstatt<\/a>. The customer is very satisfied with the station and is already planning another system.<\/p><h3>RWIS across the Highways in Russia<\/h3><p>There are three climate zones in Russia: The Arctic, the temperate and the subtropical climate. Sometimes the country is dominated by extreme temperature differences. That is why we and our Russian Partner carried out several long-term projects along the motorways throughout the country. These include 98 Lufft systems &#8211; consisting of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lufft.com\/products\/road-runway-sensors-292\/non-invasive-road-sensor-nirs31-umb-2307\/\">NIRS31<\/a> road weather sensor, a camera and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lufft.com\/products\/compact-weather-sensors-293\/ws600-umb-smart-weather-sensor-1832\/\">WS600<\/a> All-in-One compact weather sensor.<\/p><p>One of these projects is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lufft.com\/projects\/road-weather-information-system-network-rwis-in-russia-motorway-m5-ural-458\/\">RWIS on the M5 motorway, also known as the Ural motorway<\/a>. It was the venue for the 23rd edition of the Olympic Winter Games from January 29 to February 25, 2018.<\/p><p>Since weather data plays an important role for the smooth running of the winter games, we were involved in the games&#8217; preparations and execution by providing the right measurement equipment to record and analyze environmental data. The route is equipped with a total of 11 ice alert systems equipped with Lufft sensors.
