With the mobile<\/span> road sensor<\/span> MARWIS<\/a><\/span> we’ve transformed<\/span> vehicles<\/span> into<\/span> mobile<\/span> road<\/span> weather stations<\/span><\/strong>. Most<\/span> stationary<\/span> measuring systems<\/span> are also equipped with<\/span> weather<\/span> sensors for detecting the<\/span> environmental<\/span> conditions in order to<\/span> take all<\/span> factors<\/span> into account<\/span> that<\/span> may affect<\/span> driving safety<\/span>. They often<\/span> communicate with<\/span> variable message signs<\/span> that<\/span> reduce the speed<\/span> limit or alerts on traffic signs in the event<\/span> of dangerous<\/span> road weather conditions.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Particularly<\/span> heavy rain<\/span>, strong winds<\/span>, which can cause<\/span> snow and<\/span> sand drifts<\/span>, or<\/span> even<\/span> a<\/span> low sun<\/span> are a challenge for car and truck<\/span> drivers<\/span>.<\/span> The<\/span> mentioned<\/span> factors<\/span> not only obstruct the<\/span> driver’s view<\/span> but<\/span> also reduce<\/span> tire grip<\/span><\/strong>, causing<\/span> dangerous<\/span> lengthening of <\/span>braking distances.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n

In order to supplement road sensors particularly all-in-one weather sensors<\/strong> detecting all environmental factors, that are required or relevant for the transport safety are appropriate. For this purpose, for instance, the Lufft WS600-UMB<\/a> weather sensor for measuring temperature, humidity, air pressure, wind and precipitation can be the right choice. If you want to add a global radiation sensor to these measurements, the Lufft WS700<\/a> comes into consideration. If also flashes of lightning need to be recorded, the WS800 Weather Sensor is a suitable WS. For the visibilty measurement we offer the VS20-UMB<\/a> sensor.<\/p>\n

Since these<\/span> were<\/span> only<\/span> used stationary <\/span>so until recently, we wondered <\/span>whether these<\/strong><\/span> environmental<\/span> sensors<\/span> can also be used<\/span> mobile<\/span><\/strong>; the idea<\/span> of<\/span> “<\/span>Ice Cars<\/span>” was born.<\/span> Since then, our<\/span> system partner<\/span> MICKS<\/a> deals<\/span> with this question extensively and<\/span> has even<\/span> two<\/span> versions of it<\/span> on the road already. Another model<\/span> is applied <\/span>in<\/span> South Korea<\/span> and<\/span> was<\/span> designed by our<\/span> sales partner<\/span> ELP<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n

The<\/span> <\/strong>main components<\/strong> of<\/span> one of the two Ice<\/span> Cars<\/span> in<\/span> Germany<\/span> are<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n
