class=\"hps\">Kuchenbecker<\/span> has <span class=\"hps\">dealt<\/span> in his bachelor thesis <span class=\"hps\">with the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">construction of an<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">economic<\/span>, <span class=\"hps\">vertical <\/span> <span class=\"hps\">small wind turbine, which doesn&#8217;t require any authorization. <\/span>Moreover t<span class=\"hps\">he construction <\/span><span class=\"hps\">needed to be<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">portable. <\/span><span class=\"hps\">For this special <span class=\"tag_trans\">wind power station<\/span> <\/span><span class=\"hps\">he integrated <\/span><span class=\"hps\">the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Lufft<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">WS200<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">ultrasonic wind sensor among class=\"hps\">development of an independent<\/span>, <span class=\"hps\">mobile<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">small wind turbine<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">that<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">can be used flexibly<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in different locations<\/span>. <span class=\"hps\">In<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the final<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">version<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of the new technology<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">a<\/span> <a title=\"WS200 product information\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lufft.com\/products\/wind-sensors-anemometers-289\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"hps\">WS200<\/span><\/a><span class=\"atn\">&#8211;<\/span>UMB <span class=\"hps\">compact weather sensor for wind measurements <span class=\"hps atn\">(<\/span><span class=\"\">direction and speed<\/span>) from<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Lufft <\/span><span class=\"hps\">is<\/span> mounted <span class=\"hps\">at a height of<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">five <\/span><span class=\"hps\">meters<\/span>. <span class=\"hps\">This is particularly important<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">for<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">an <\/span><span class=\"hps\">projected<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">estimation of the yearly yield of the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">installation as well as for <\/span>the <span class=\"hps\">ongoing<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">monitoring of the system<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\" tabindex=\"-1\"><span class=\"hps\">The<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">power of the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">wind<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">measuring device<\/span> is supplied <span class=\"hps\">via<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">a solar panel<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">that enables<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">autonomous operation<\/span>. <span class=\"hps\">The sensor&#8217;s<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">measuring<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">data<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">are stored in a<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Raspberry Pi serving as\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"hps\">data logger<\/span>. <span class=\"hps\">In addition,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">a categorization of the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">wind direction<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">takes place<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">assigning<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">75 percent<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of the wind<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">east and west<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">direction as a result<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\" tabindex=\"-1\"><span class=\"hps\">The measuring principle<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of the <\/span><\/span><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\" tabindex=\"-1\"><span class=\"hps\">used <\/span><\/span><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\" tabindex=\"-1\"> <span class=\"hps\">WS200<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">wind sensor<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">is based<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">on<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">a runtime measurement<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of ultrasonic pulses<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in the individual<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">air<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">routes<\/span>. <span class=\"hps\">The framework<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">consists of two<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">measuring paths<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">shifted<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">by 90 degrees<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">with two<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">ultrasonic<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">transceivers<\/span><span class=\"\">, which are<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">alternately<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">driven<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">for measuring<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the transit time between<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">transmitter and receiver.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\" tabindex=\"-1\"><span class=\"hps\">As you can see<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in the image<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of the <a title=\"WS200 product information\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lufft.com\/products\/wind-sensors-anemometers-289\/\" target=\"_blank\">WS200<\/a> measurement<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">principle<\/span>, it is <span class=\"hps\">generally<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">a<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">rectangular<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">structure<\/span>, <span class=\"hps\">which determines the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">air movement<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in the X and<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Y direction.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">The deviations<\/span> of the <span class=\"hps\">air temperature and humidity<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">are compensated by the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">reciprocal<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">measurement of the<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"hps\">sound velocity<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the calculation<\/span>. <span class=\"hps\">To save the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">data<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in the data center<\/span>, we created <span class=\"hps\">a software<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">background<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">program that<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">can be adjusted<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">with the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Lufft<\/span> <a title=\"Software solutions for Lufft products\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lufft.com\/de-de\/downloads\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"hps\">USB<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Config Tool<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Raspberry Pi has the main task to inform about the sampling rate of the wind sensor and to retrieve the measurement data from the port, which it then stores depending on the configuration file.
