In cooperation with the Windcluster Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg we are present at HUSUM Wind<\/a> 2015, where you will find us at Booth 5B38<\/b>. Here we give you five facts distinguishing VENTUS-UMB ultrasonic anemometer <\/a>which will be the star of our booth:<\/p>\n

First: The VENTUS-UMB satisfies customers.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ventus fulfils even highest requirements. Especially those of large national<\/span> weather services are very strict. One of them is the German Weather Service DWD who recently searched for offshore-proof wind sensors by means of a big tender<\/span><\/span>. The sensors will be integrated into their maritime measurement network<\/span><\/span>. They decided in favor of the Lufft\u00a0VENTUS-UMB <\/a> wind sensor withstanding extreme weather conditions. This is ensured by a closed, very robust and stainless housing made of a material that is also in use for ship propellers. Therefore, it can be applied particularly well for measuring buoys and ships, where it delivers precise measurement data on wind speed and direction long-term reliably and maintenance-free. \n Second: With the help of the Wind Bridge signal converter it speeks the the language of the PLC or controller perfectly.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The replacement of mechanical wind sensors with new, digital equipment has often led to obstacles when it comes to the communication link. The wind sensors are responsible for the ideal alignment of the turbine both in order to optimize the performance and to protect against defects. For this, the measuring instrument need to be connected to a programmable logic controller (PLC). To make this possible in a simple manner, the WindBridge signal converter is available from now on. It emerged from a collaboration between Nor-Cal Controls and Lufft USA. As an interface between the PLC and the wind sensor, it can be integrated easily and makes the change from maintenance-prone mechanical measuring instruments such as cup and vanes systems to new, autonomous and long-term maintenance-free technologies such as the\u00a0VENTUS-UMB <\/a> particularly simply possible. Third: It is virtually indestructible.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Another proof of the\u00a0VENTUS-UMB <\/a> quality is its passed TUV testing and the related IP68 classification. This Protection Class stands for water- and dustproofness. In addition, extensive tests by the German WindGuard showed, that it’s measuring range is up to 90m\/s. This indicates that the sensor is optimally equipped for further offshore applications.
