While in the past, LUFFT has sold its products in China via distributors, it will now be more directly involved itself: a new subsidiary, LufftChina, was born in third quarter of 2012 to represent G. LUFFT GmbH directly on the Chinese market.<\/p>\n

With 9,571,302 square kilometers, China is geographically the fourth largest country in the world and spans eighteen climate zones. Whether snowstorms or monsoons, continental or high mountain \u2013 the weather situation demands a lot from the approximately 1.34 billion inhabitants of the world\u2019s most populous country.<\/p>\n

Since the middle of 2010, the Chinese market for measurement and control technology has been on the rise, supported not least by the development of the country\u2019s infrastructure. The Chinese government\u2019s five-year plan includes several large projects that require precise, low-maintenance weather monitoring sensors. German suppliers are more in demand than ever. Recent years have seen several projects equipped with LUFFT\u2019s products. For example, wind turbine manufacturers in the northern part of the country count on Ventus UMB<\/a>\u2019s ice-free sensors while utility poles are being monitored by WS600 all-in-one weather stations<\/a> to prevent the threat of \u00a0breakdowns caused by frozen power lines.<\/p>\n

In addition, LUFFT products have proven useful on the railways where the WS400<\/a> have been every five kilometers along high-speed tracks to measure wind speeds. The speed of the trains is then adjusted to the particular wind conditions. The WS200<\/a> und WS500<\/a> sensors are quite popular for general weather monitoring; they are attached at three different heights on weather masts to determine local wind and weather conditions.<\/p>\n

While in the past, LUFFT has sold its products in China via distributors, it will now be more directly involved itself: a new subsidiary, LufftChina, was born in third quarter of 2012 to represent G. LUFFT GmbH directly on the Chinese market. There are a total of \u00a0ten employees in the main headquarters in Shanghai and the office in Beijing.<\/p>\n

For the next few years, LUFFT plans active and consistent expansion of its already existing strategic partnerships within China. The Chinese government\u2019s plans are also going to be of assistance: new projects such as the installation of early warning systems to protect against weather extremes or to monitor particulate matter in the air are already being planned.<\/p>\n
